No new iPhone until September says AT&T/Apple

There are a lot of Apple fans and iPhone user who have been holding out hope that Apple will still unveil the new iPhone 5 at WWDC in June. We reported in April that the iPhone 5 would not surface until at least June according to sources. At the time, a few specs were also tipped for the iPhone 5 including a dual core 1GHz processor. Now new reports are surfacing that back up that September date that was unveiled last month, and the new source is apparently Apple and AT&T.


According to MacRumors one of its readers contacted AT&T after seeing his eligibility date for an upgrade pushed back by five months. Apparently, AT&T told the reader that the reason the upgrade date wash pushed back by five months was that Apple had notified AT&T that the date for the launch of the iPhone 5 had been pushed from the normal June or July launch. That isn’t a direct admission of the iPhone 5 landing in September, but it would certainly fit with the other reports surfacing.
Supposedly, this customer was told by an AT&T rep, “Apple has informed us that they do not plan to release the iPhone in the June to July timeframe, though there will be a newer version in the future. Unfortunately, we have not been given a release time for the new phone. We will release this information on our website when it is available to us.” Take all this with a grain of salt naturally; the reps at AT&T are often clueless.
